A couple of weeks ago I wrapped up a review of the Pentax K-x DSLR. In the review I pointed to a couple of facets that seemed poorly implemented. Turns out I was wrong. Well, to some degree. With some great input from Pentax the flaws were corrected. Read more...

The 3D TV revolution is coming to a Future Shop near you (video)

by Guest Blogger on 03-09-2010 02:59 PM - last edited on 03-09-2010 06:55 PM

For the consumer electronics industry, it’s no secret 3D TV is the newsmaker of 2010. The buzz started less than a year ago and the hype has been non-stop since January’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Every major electronics manufacturer showcased their brand new 3D models. Some of you may recall, I had the privilege of seeing the technology first hand at CES and 3D takes the cake as most impressive viewing, ahead of meeting or seeing Lady Gaga, Diddy or Prince Fielder in person. Word is this week pre-orders for the iPad will start, with an April delivery. Well, if you're in the States. In Canada Techcrunch is saying late April for us. Myself I'm still debating about a new phone or an iPad (at least the phone I'd like is getting good reviews). So instead of kvetching about not having a cool phone or being able to pre-order an iPad here are a couple videos that we'll all like...

First the iPad commercial from last night:

And a Stark reminder that Iron Man is coming:

Hmm, I wonder if Tony will put an iPad into his office...

"I'm an iPad. And I'm a Courier."

by Blogger on 03-08-2010 03:19 PM - last edited on 03-08-2010 03:19 PM

Ah yes, the Apple vs Microsoft rivalry is heating up again after this weekend's 'leak' (strategic release?) to Engadget of all sorts of interesting Courier tidbits. But what wasn't said? Are they really aiming at the same audience? Why did Microsoft name it after a font? Read more...

The Vancouver Film School, host of the upcoming Game Design Expo that I wrote about in January, have announced it is once again offering a $30,000 Women in Games Scholarship. by Blogger on 03-07-2010 06:05 PM - last edited on 03-07-2010 06:05 PM

It's Oscar night! The Barbara Walters special is on in the background and I should probably be spending my time thinking about who is going to win this award or that award, but I'm not really paying attention (other than hoping In the Loop picks up Best Adapted Screenplay) because instead I'm just trawling my way through my e-mail press releases, and the first one that caught my eye--one which I notice hasn't already been covered here--is that Valve has announced Portal 2.
